By air: Thessaloniki’s Macedonia Airport is a fairly small but modern airport, located just 16 Km east of the city centre. It is connected to a number of international and domestic locations by both scheduled and charter flights. From Athens, both Olympic and Aegean airlines have daily flights, with a flying time of 40 minutes.
There are regular connections with London, Milan, Rome, Zurich, Munich, Dusseldorf and Moscow. The city is easily reached from the airport and takes about 30 minutes by buss or taxi. Bus number 78 leaves the airport every 30-45 minutes, travelling to the railway station (45 minutes) and the city centre (40 minutes).
By train: Thessaloniki is a railway hub for the Balkans, with direct connections to Sofia, Skopje, Belgrade, Moscow, Vienna, Budapest, Bucharest and Istanbul, alongside Athens and other destinations in Greece.

- The cost from the airport to the center of Thessaloniki ranges between 10-15 €.
By car: Taking advantage of the modernized motorway network of northern Greece, Thessaloniki can be easily accessed from Balkan countries, Turkey and western Europe trough the port of Igumenitsa.

No visa is required for citizens of the European Union and several European and South-Mediterranean countries. Please check with the Greek Embassy and Consulates of Greece in your country.Greece follows the Schengen Agreement provisions and the subsequent acquis concerning short-term visa issues.
